Detailed itinerary for 15 Days Explore Uganda Safari Tour.
Day 1: Airport pick and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe
Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the safari, you will be welcomed by the hotel representative and transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Gulu via Ziwa rhino sanctuary
After breakfast on the second day of the safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel and start the journey to Gulu. On the way you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking and after continue the journey with en-route lunch. After lunch you will proceed to Gulu for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo valley national park- afternoon game drive
On the third day of the safari, you will have breakfast and your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel to proceed the journey to Kidepo valley national park. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge for lunch where after you will go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view animals like elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, klipspringer, reedbucks, bushbucks, bat eared fox, jackals, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Full day game drive in Kidepo national park
Have breakfast and brace yourself for another thrilling game drive in the vast savannah of Kidepo Valley intercepted by patches of Borassus palm and the rising scenic hills. Enjoy the stunning views of the morning sun shining over the hills of Lomej, the Lotukei Mountains before the rays strike down to the endless valleys of Kidepo and Narus valley, view different animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, elands, impalas, giraffes among others.
Return to the lodge for lunch and unwind a bit before embarking on a game drive to Kidepo valley to visit the hot springs where you will be able to encounter Ostriches within the region although their numbers are highly threatened by poaching by south Sudanese. Dinner and overnight at lodge as above.
Day 5: Morning game drive and Karamajong cultural tour
After an early breakfast on the fifth day of the safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in Narus valley where you will be able to see animals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs among others which will be drinking water in the valley, view different bird species like the ostrich, Karamoja Apalis among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go for an interesting cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Karamajong who live in the neighboring villages. During the cultural tour you will be able to learn about their culture, tradition, way of living, visit the Karamojong manyattas, enjoy their traditional songs, dances among others. After the cultural tour you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 6: Transfer to Murchison falls national park
You will wake up and have breakfast on the sixth day of the safari, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Murchison falls national park. On the way you will have En-route lunch and enjoy great views of the countryside, landscape, beautiful scenery among others. Upon arrival in the park you will drive directly to the top of the falls where you will enjoy views of the waterfall and after connect to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to spot various animals like Uganda kobs, warthogs, giraffes, elephants, bushbucks, lions, leopards, hyenas, Jacksons hartebeest, view different bird species among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will drive to Paraa landing site for an interesting boat cruise to the bottom of the falls where you will be rewarded with incredible views of animals like elephants, buffaloes and antelopes which gather to drink water, hippos and crocodiles in water, view variety of bird species like kingfishers, fish eagles, bee-eaters, hornbills among others. After the boat cruise you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 8: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Early morning after breakfast, depart the lodge Proceed for your long journey to Kibale Forest National Park. This Park is home to almost 13 primate species. These include red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey and many more. You will have lunch in Fort Portal and proceed with the journey to the Kibale forest. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the forest in search of chimpanzees.
Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located and during trekking you will be rewarded with views of other primates like l’Hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, views of different bird species among others.
Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their environment which helps you to watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest, observe their behaviors, take photos and record videos. After the one-hour encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda. On the way you will enjoy spectacular views of the scenery, landscape and upon arrival in the park you will go for a short evening game drive where you will be rewarded with views of animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs among others. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 10: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise – Queen Elizabeth National Park
On the 10th day of your Lake Bunyonyi for a boat ride , After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will be able to spot different animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, waterbucks which will be grazing in open savannah plains, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas which will be looking for a morning hunt, view bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connect lake Edward and lake George where you will be able to view large herds of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks drinking water along the shores, view water birds like hornbills, cormorants, fish eagles, king fisher’s among others. After the boat ride you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 11: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will set out for the game drive in the Ishasha area and expect to see the rare tree-climbing lions. The lions can be seen upon the fig trees. However, it’s not a guarantee that the lions will be seen. Sometimes it depends on the luck and time of reaching the area.
You will have lunch in the Ishasha sector and after you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in preparation for your next day Gorilla trek. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 12: Gorilla trek in Bwindi forest Park
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the UWA officials, set off for the gorilla tracking. This is a once lifetime experience and unforgettable adventure. The ranger guides will lead you into the thick forest and start your search for the endangered Mountain Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about1hour.
The activity can take 2 -7 hours since the gorillas move up and down. This is an awesome and exciting moment where you will be able to see other types of the primates such as monkeys, birds, and more. Return for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 13: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a boat ride
You will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale which is the deepest lake in Uganda and second largest lake in Africa after Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
After lunch, you will go for an amazing boat ride where you will enjoy spectacular views of beautiful scenery, explore some of the 29 islands such as the punishment island where girls who got pregnant were left to die as a punishment, view terraced farmlands, bird species among others. After boat ride you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 14: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park
You will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Mburo national park. On the way you will enjoy stunning views of the landscape, scenery, farmlands, countryside among others.
Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for lunch where after you will relax and later go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view different animals such as buffaloes, oribi, waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, topi among others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 15: Walking safari and departure to Kampala
On the last day of the safari, you will enjoy breakfast, check out of the lodge and then meet up with your driver guide to go for a walking safari in the park where you will be able to get up close and personal with different wildlife species, listen to sweet sounds of bird species, enjoy the cool breeze among others.
After the guided nature walk, you will meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch and stopover at the Equator where you will take photos and buy craft souvenirs. From the Equator you will proceed to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
