This is a 7 days Volcanoes and Nyungwe Safari in Rwanda. During this 7 days Rwanda safari, you will be visiting Volcanoes National Park for gorilla and golden monkey trekking and Nyungwe Forest National Park for chimpanzee and primate trekking in Nyungwe and Cyamudongo forests.

Detailed Itinerary for 7 Days Volcanoes and Nyungwe Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Ruhengeri / Musanze with city tour and Dian Fossey fund museum visit.
Our representative will meet you at Kigali International airport or pick you up from your hotel in Kigali and enjoy a brief tour of Kigali city including a visit to the Genocide memorial site. Later transfer you to Ruhengeri – the base town for Volcanoes National Park to connect to the Dian Fossey museum for a brief visit then connect to your accommodation in Volcanoes arriving in the evening.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Rwanda
Breakfast will be served early and lunch will be packed. The briefing is at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the mountain gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from one to seven hours.
Trekking through the steep, bamboo slopes and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Upon completion of this magical encounter, you will connect again with your driver / guide and transfer back to your hotel.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking
You will have breakfast and report back to the park headquarters where you will get a ranger guide and start your golden monkey trek in Volcanoes National Park. This is a rather short experience that can last an hour or three hours. After spending time with the golden monkeys, you will go and have lunch then after connect to enjoy Iby’iwacu cultural tour. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe national park
After enjoying your breakfast, you will embark on 5-6 hours’ scenic drive to Nyungwe forest national park-one of the oldest rainforest in Africa and a home to 13 species of primate. Dinner and over stay at your accommodation.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are the easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch. Spend the evening relaxing. If you feel energetic you may go for a community tour. Return to the lodge before nightfall for dinner.
Day 6; Primate Tracking and Canopy Walk
This day you will embark on a primate trekking experience in Nyungwe forest. This activity takes about 3-5 hours including an hour spent with the primates once you have located them. Later in the afternoon after you have had your lunch, head to the park to experience the canopy walk which offers clear view of plants, primates, birds, and butterflies very close. Take a 2 hour guided tour to and from the canopy walk-way bridge- a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you.
Before night fall, you will return to the hotel for dinner as above.
Day 7; Transfer to Kigali city
Enjoy breakfast at leisure and transfer back to Kigali. You will go for a city tour where you will visit the Kimironko market and the Kigali genocide memorial site. After having your lunch, you will be dropped at the hotel advised or you will be dropped at Kigali airport for your scheduled flight back home.
