Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trek and Akagera Safari
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Drive to Volcanoes NP- Gorilla Trek and Ibyi’wacu Village Tour
Our company representative will come to pick you after breakfast and set off from Kigali at 4:30pm. The briefing is at 7am at the park headquarters in Kinigi. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from one to seven hours or more depending on the location of the gorillas.
Trekking through the steep, bamboo slopes and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Upon completion of this magical encounter, you can have lunch and drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park and Afternoon Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast from your hotel/lodge and then meet up with your driver guide. You will then transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and then embark on the late afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game animals like savannah elephants, hippopotamuses, Crocodiles, and many bird species that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast meal at your lodge before heading out for a full-day game drive in the park. You will have ample time to explore both the southern and northern sectors of the park for wildlife animals including the famous Big Five like the Rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, and hippos as well as other wildlife species like Sitatunga, hartebeests, antelopes, leopards, common eland, waterbucks and so many more.
Return to your lodge at the end of the day for dinner and an overnight stay the same as the previous night.
Day 4: Transfer Back to Kigali
After having breakfast at your lodge, you will transfer back to Kigali city. Depending on your time of arrival in Kigali, you can take a short tour of Kigali city where you can visit places like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kimironko Market, and Caplaki Craft Village. Your driver guide will drop you off at the airport in time to check in and board your flight to Kigali.
