Our 4 Days Rwanda Double Gorilla Trek Safari gives you the opportunity to track mountain gorillas twice during your stay in Rwanda. Spend quality time with two different gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park as you watch and study the gentle giants. Mountain gorillas can only have been seen in three countries in the world with Rwanda being one of them. Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo also host the remaining population of mountain gorillas; with half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Rwanda Double Gorilla Trek Safari
DAY 1: Pick Up, City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On your first day with us, as per this schedule, you will be welcomed by our representative who will pick you up from the airport or your desired location. You will be taken on a city tour, including visits to the Rwanda genocide memorial grounds and artisan stores, and your driving guide will educate you on Rwandan culture and history. You will also be served lunch, depending on your arrival time. After exploring Kigali, you will go to your accommodation near Volcanoes National Park, the habitat of these endangered animals, to recover and prepare for the trip the following morning. The travel from Kigali to Ruhengeri will take roughly 2 and a half hours.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge/hotel.
DAY 2: First Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park and Visit Ibyiwacu Village.
You will be asked to get up at 6 a.m. for breakfast and be ready to begin the walk. Our guide will meet you once you have packed your breakfast and lunches and will drive you to Kinigi Headquarters, where you will receive a briefing before beginning the gorilla walk. This brief is completed at 7 a.m. During this briefing, you will be given guidelines before beginning the walk. Because of its unpredictable nature, this gorilla journey might last anywhere from 2 hours to half a day. When you discover the gorillas, keep a 6-meter distance and have one hour to appreciate and photograph them.
After the trek, you will have lunch and taken back to your hotel as the night before to relax and reminisce on the experience. You can ask the guide in case you want to have another activity in the evening at your own cost and he will advise. You will later go for the Ibyi’wacu Cultural Visit. Dinner and overnight will be at the same hotel as the night before.
DAY 3: Second Gorilla Trek and Visit Dian Fossey Centre at Karisoke
As early at 6am, you will be expected to be up for breakfast and ready to set off for your second gorilla trek, and this time round you will be tracking a different gorilla family. Our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take to about 2 hours to half a day as it’s unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 6 meters distance and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas.
After your gorilla trek, you will have your packed lunch and head back to base where you will find your driver guide waiting for you. You will then drive to Dian Fossey Fund at Karisoke Centre where you will take a tour of the museum and learn more about her work.
Later spend the rest of the evening relaxing at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at your lodge/hotel.
Day 4: Transfer Back To Kigali.
On this day you will have breakfast at your own pace but ensure to check out of the hotel in time. Our guide will be waiting to drive you back to Kigali International Airport or any location you will advise in Kigali.
