Volcanoes National Park also known as Parc National des Volcans in french and Pariki y’Igihugu y’Ibirunga in Kinyarwanda is situated in the northern province of Rwanda in a district called Musanze (formerly called Ruhengeri). This national park borders Virunga National Park (World Heritage Site) in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Uganda’s second gorilla tracking destination, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Volcanoes National Park is popularly known as a home to endangered and rare mountain gorilla and golden monkeys of Rwanda. It also shelters five of the eight volcanoes of the Great Virunga Mountains (Bisoke, Karisimbi, Gahinga, Muhabura and Sabyinyo), and spreads for about 160 km2 covered in both rain forest and bamboo. This park was also the base for the famous zoologist Dian Fossey. Please both the dynamic and static map of this popular Mountain Gorilla tracking destination;
