At the age of 13 years, a female chimpanzee can give birth at any given time of the year but their age is not the most impressive part about conception and fertility. Chimpanzees just like humans come into oestrous once a month which lasts between 10-14 days and this can be seen by a pink swelling on their behind. These will confirm that the female is fertile and ready to attract any male for mating and if it is a success, once a chimpanzee gives birth to its infant, it is the duty of the female to take care of it, you will also see the infant clinging to its mother’s fur for one month and after the month elapses the mother will start carrying it on its back for two years.
