How to get to Nyungwe National Park : Nyungwe national park is among the national parks in Rwanda that should not miss out on your Rwanda safari because of a number of attractions you will get to see. The park is home to 13 primate species, numerous animal species, rewarding views that can be seen when you get to Nyungwe national park. Getting to Nyungwe national park is quite easy because of the different modes of transport that can be used which may include air and road transport.
By using road transport from Kigali city via huye town, tourists can board public means like buses from the Nyabugogo bus terminal where you will go through towns like kamonyi, muhanga, ruhango, nyanza, huye and nyamagabe and from there you will access Nyungwe forest. During the drive you will get a stopover at a number of memorable sites if you have time like the king’s palace, kamageri rocks to understand more about the history of Rwanda.
You can also use air transport by landing at Kigali international airport where you can also book for a domestic flight from the international airport to Kamembe airport where you can book one of the 9 flights that are available in the week and from Kamembe airport you will use road transport means to the park which is just 40 kilometres away from the airport.

Chimpanzee trekking
Nyungwe national park is famous for its chimpanzees that are the dominant species that can be seen when you participate in chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda. during chimpanzee trekking, you will get the chance to take part in the activity in either Nyungwe forest or cyamudongo forest where you can access the habituated chimpanzee troops in the park. the activity involves spending one hour observing the behaviour as you take pictures of the species to make your activity quite memorable. As you participate in the activity, you will have the chance to observe a number of interesting features like how the adult males take care of the infants by grooming them, you will get to see the females having red swellings on their bottoms which symbolise that they are ready for mating with the adult males and if you’re lucky enough you will get to see how they mate with one another.
Primate tracking
It should be noted that the park is known for having large numbers of primates as compared to other national parks in Rwanda. Aside from the gorillas in the park, you can get the opportunity to track the different primates which can help you watch diverse primate species aside from the chimpanzees. Among the different primates that can be seen include; the olive baboon, L’hoest’s monkey, vervet monkey, grey-cheeked, Mangabey, blue monkey, red-tailed monkey, dent’s monkey, Angola Colobus, Hamlyn’s monkey, Ruwenzori colobus and the silver monkey that will make your primate experience in Rwanda quite rewarding.
Canopy walk
