HOW STRONG A GORILLA IS!
How Strong A Gorilla is! : Gorillas are quite a unique species compared to other primate species in the world with a dna closer to that of humans as compared to other primate species in the world. There are a number of interesting gorilla species that can be seen all over the world but the notable gorilla species are the mountain gorillas that can be seen when you participate in gorilla trekking in Uganda, where you will have the chance to understand more about the gorilla species in the wild.
It should be noted that the last remaining mountain gorillas in their natural habitat can be found in Mgahinga national park, Bwindi impenetrable national park, Virunga national park and volcanoes national park in Rwanda. Other gorilla species that can be seen while you take part in gorilla trekking in Africa include; the lowland gorillas that can be seen in kahuzi biega national park, Maiko national park you can also see the western lowland gorillas, cross river gorillas among other gorilla species all over the continent.
The gorillas are the largest species of the primates which makes them the largest and strongest of the different primate species like the chimpanzees that you can also get to understand when you visit a number of primate chimpanzee trekking destinations in Africa like kibale national park in Uganda, you can participate in chimpanzee trekking in queen Elizabeth national park, chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe national park, chimpanzee trekking in Virunga national park, you can visit the Lwiro chimpanzee orphanage to understand more of the primates as well. Because of the gorillas being the largest of the primate species, there has been a number of questions that have been raised on the strength of the gorillas, their diet which makes them to be the strongest of the primate species.
Although there are different gorilla types in the world, most of the gorillas have the same features and in case of any differences they are not that significant compared to other species. Understanding the way, a gorilla is built can be closely related to where they can be found for example the mountain gorillas have a number of distinctive features compared to the lowland gorillas for instance although they have the same features, there can be visible differences in the size, height and many other features that help define their strength. Interesting features of the gorillas include their broad chest that the thump during a fight outbreak, big head, long arms which attribute to their average weight of about 95kgs in females and males 172kgs.
The gorillas are able to be the strong primates that they are because of their diet which helps build their overall body mass, making them quite energetic and ready to protect themselves. It is believed that a gorilla consumes about 18 kilograms of food daily which comprises of fruits, leaves, tree barks, stems, fruits among other vegetation available, small insects like caterpillars, termites, snails, ants larvae and so on which help build the body. It should also be noted that because the gorillas can move about 500 meters daily to get food, it helps to define their muscles hence making them strong species.
The strength of the gorillas is estimated to be 10 times their body weight making it 4 to ten times stronger than an average human. A fully grown silverback is stronger than 20 adult human combined that is why sometimes when silverbacks fight, their fights can be fatal if they are not controlled because of how strong they are. This usually happens during their need for power where a silver back can challenge the dominant silverback to a fight winner becomes the head and loser is chased a way from the group/ family. Another interesting feature about the strength of the gorilla is the fact that a fully grown silverback can lift up to 1,810 kilograms compared to a well trained heavy lifter that was recorded to lift about 401.5 kilograms hence making them quite a strong species.
