Trip Description
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali to Goma
You will be met at your communicated place of pick up by your driver guide who will be ready to take you on your Congo safari for the next few days. You will exchange pleasantries and later start on your 5 hour road transfer.
You may have enroute visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Grounds and the Kimironko market, also enjoy an enroute lunch and continue further to the Goma Gisenyi border where you will check in with the Virunga office at the Grande Barrier border building. You will drive further to Goma to check in at your hotel. Settle in as you prepare to have dinner at your hotel and spend your first night in Goma.

Day 2: Hike up the Mount Nyiragongo
Breakfast will be at your hotel and you will connect with your driver guide who will be waiting to drive you back to the Grande Barrier to join the security convoy headed for the Bukima ranger post by 9 am for the briefing of the hike.
Hire the necessary gear for the overnight hike and ascend this active volcanic mountain. You will have 2 brief stopovers to refresh and continue uphill to arrive in the early evening hours. You will enjoy the top of the Mount Nyiragongo as you wait for dinner to be served and spend the night in the Nyiragongo summit shelters
Day 3: Descend the Mount Nyiragongo and head to Tchegera Island
On the 3rd da of your 5 days Mount Nyiragongo and Tchegera Island visit, wake up for a simple breakfast prepared at the Mount Nyiragongo top and after prepare to start the descent back to the trailhead. This is a faster route so you will be expected to be back at the trailhead by midday where your driver guide will be waiting for you from. You will thereafter connect to Bolengo where you will catch the boat headed to the Tchegera Island.
This is a 30 minute transfer so you will arrive in time for lunch at the luxury resort. Check in and have lunch. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge and settling in as you wait for dinner to be served. Dinner and night stay will be at the luxurious Tchegera Island Tented Camp
Day 4: Day and night at Tchegera Island
On the 4th day of your 5 days Mount Nyiragongo and Tchegera Island visit, get up at leisure and connect for breakfast. After breakfast, you will connect for any island activity you may be interested in like a tropical nature walk in the virgin trails of the island or do some kayaking, paddle boarding, take on a kayaking experience or even do some snorkeling if you prefer.
You will have a picnic lunch at the hotel and the rest of the day will be spent at leisure as you wait for dinner to be served and the second night at the Tchegera Island Tented Camp
Day 5: Leave Tchegera and connect back to Kigali
Wake up on this beautiful island ready to connect to your next destination. You will enjoy the breakfast at the hotel and prepare your belongings to check out of the hotel. Your driver guide will be at the Bolengo port waiting to receive you for your next destination.
You will drive to Kigali for drop off via the Grande Barrier border, stop for lunch in Musanze and conclude the safari in Kigali.
