Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Top Kenya Wildlife Safari.
Day 1: Pickup in Nairobi and Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park
If you arrive early in the morning on the day of your safari, you will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Your driver-guide will welcome you on a memorable Great Rift Valley safari. You’ll descend into the Rift Valley and visit Lake Nakuru National Park, a well-known birdwatcher’s paradise that is sometimes referred to as the world’s finest ornithological display.
The park is well-known for the millions of pink flamingos that flock to its beaches, but it also protects endangered Black and White Rhinos and the stately Rothschild Giraffe. In addition, you’ll see lesser and larger flamingos, African fish eagles, tawny eagles, green wood hoopoes, cliff chats, great white pelicans, pink-backed pelicans, and other migratory species.
Arrive in time to check-in at your lodge or camp and have lunch. Relax for a while and then head out later in the afternoon for a game drive in the park. Later have dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Lake Naivasha National Park
Lake Bogoria, known for its stunning hot springs and geysers that are hot enough to cook an egg, has earned the nickname “new home of the flamingo,” with up to 2 million flamingos migrating from Lake Nakuru, producing a breathtaking spectacle. The reserve also has leopards, klipspringers, caracals, and the stately greater kudu.
You’ll have lunch at your camp or designated lodge before heading to Lake Naivasha, another stunning lake in the Great Rift Valley. After arriving at your lodge on the beaches of Lake Naivasha in the early afternoon, you’ll go on a boat safari across the freshwater lake to witness a variety of birds and the local hippos. The boat tour also includes a brief foot safari, where you may see additional animals up close.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge or camp.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve
No trip in Kenya is complete without visiting the renowned Masai Mara to see the Big Five. After breakfast, you will leave Lake Nakuru and travel over the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara, home of the breathtaking 8th Wonder of the World.
This enormous reserve, located on the broad Serengeti plains, is well-known for the stunning annual wildebeest migration and is home to Africa’s Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and cape buffalo.
On arrival, you will check into your lodge and have a leisurely meal. After a little break, you will go out on a late afternoon game drive at 4:00 PM, enjoying the Mara’s diverse species before returning to the lodge or camp for a great dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4&5: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara
On this day, we will spend the day touring the Masai Mara Reserve. Instead of an early morning game drive, we will leave at 8:00 a.m. after breakfast, taking picnic lunch boxes.
We’ll spend the rest of the morning and early afternoon exploring the reserve, where we can see a variety of species, including the elusive leopard. If you go during the wildebeest migration season, the major draw is the spectacular spectacle of the yearly migration. The grasslands are filled with vast herds of wildebeest, but we’ll be looking for spectacular river crossings at the Mara River, where crocodiles wait—an awe-inspiring event to photograph.
This beautiful scene is undoubtedly one of the world’s wonders. We’ll return to the lodge in the afternoon to rest, followed by dinner and an evening of leisure.
Day 6: Transfer from Masai Mara back to Nairobi
We begin the day with an early morning game drive in the park at 6:30 a.m., giving us one last chance to observe animals when they are most active in the chilly dawn hours. After that, you will return to the lodge for breakfast and pack your belongings for the drive back to Nairobi.
You’ll drive through magnificent landscapes before arriving in Nairobi in the early afternoon. Lunch will be arranged by you, either on the road or after you arrive in Nairobi. Later, you’ll be taken to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international trip home, bringing your memorable Kenyan safari to an end.
